Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

Now more than ever, if you want to be a successful business owner, you need a successful business website. Which means you have to make nice with the search engines. And the long-standing rule of search engine friendliness is to create inbound links -- links from other sites pointing to your site.

Ten-ish years ago, when Google started the shift away from code to content (including inbound links) as the preferred way of determining "relevance," the world changed. Immediately, businesses owners started scrambling, and begging, for every link they could get. Thank goodness that's not the case anymore! But inbound links are still important. In many ways they're more vital than ever.

How then, does one go about getting those precious nuggets of hypertext anchor tagging? Social Media maven and "Chief Nut" Kevin Skarritt, our good friend and strategic ally at Acorn Creative, offered up these 10 strategies on his "Nuts and Bolts of Brand" blog. Good guy that he is, he gave us permission to share those key linking strategies with you here. Hit it!

1. BLOG COMMENTS

Go out of your way to read other people's blogs. Your Mother always told you that reading is good for you. She was right! But, when you do so, be sure to productively interact with those bloggers. It makes them feel good. It validates what they're writing about. It starts up a relationship between the two of you. AND, here's the best part, it gives you an inbound link to your site.

2. BLOG TRACKBACKS

Start your own blog and refer to all of those blogs you're reading in the form of a "trackback" in your posts. Don't know what this means? Check out the entry for "trackback" on Wikipedia, or go deeper with a Wordpress.org tutorial. However you learn more about this linking strategy, please do, because it's a smart, easy, and effective way to get your website lots of inbound links.

3. PAY PER CLICK ADVERTISING

Yes, PPC advertising is indeed an added marketing expense. However, it's a controllable, predictable means to build ROI, and a great way to build inbound links where you have control over the text used in the link tag.

4. PARTICIPATE ON INDUSTRY FORUMS

Similar to blog comments and trackbacks, participating on industry forums will get you hooked up with other like-minded professionals, keep you abreast of current trends, and you get to build your own inbound links in the signature line of your posts.

5. BUILD OTHER PAGES

Some new social networking sites on the web allow you to create content and post it in their domain as new pages. One great example of this is Seth Godin's Squidoo.com. By creating "lenses" that focus readers on a particular topic of interest, you get to engage readers and create more inbound links to your main site.

6. WIKIS

The concept of a wiki (like wikipedia.org) is that readers also become content contributors. Anyone who is registered can log in and change content. Understand that other readers of this information-rich content have zero tolerance for salesy/advertising tactics, so, be careful with this one. Be purely informative and helpful with your newly posted content. If the content survives peer scrutiny, you'll have a nice little inbound link that's potentially seen by millions.

7. SOCIAL NETWORKING

MySpace and FaceBook for sure, but there's an explosion of social networking web sites out there. Dive in and start participating. Doing so allows you to interact with other professionals and, you guessed it, builds up inbound links.

8. SOCIAL BOOKMARKING

Different than social networking, social bookmarking is similar to how you used to bookmark sites in your browser but, instead, you bookmark your favorite sites publicly, in sites like de.licio.us, ma.gnolia.com, spurl.com, rojo.com, Google bookmarks ... the list goes on and on. The goal is to have people discover these bookmarks, and then your site. An added benefit to social bookmarking (and blog posts) is you get to "tag" your content with words and phrases that are relevant to the content. These tags are used to identify the content in the search process.

9. ORGANIZED SURFING SITES

This is a variation of social bookmarking. There are sites that organize how people surf the web in an effort to make the process of finding the right content faster and more focused. StumbleUpon.com (available as a Firefox plugin) is one of my favorites but others like Technorati (blog content), Digg (blogs, articles and news stories) and newcomer Trailfire (another Firefox plugin) allow users to power-surf, finding your site via inbound links.

10. LINK BEGGING

Don't discount it just yet. Asking another site owner for a link sometimes still works. However, with all of the other options listed above, you'll quickly learn that this tactic is largely time-consuming and unproductive.

Any good car salesman will recite the old adage, "plan your work and work your plan." This especially holds true for your inbound link strategy. Whether you focus on one or set up a tactic to diversify, divide and conquer, don't wait. The success of your website -- and ultimately, your business -- depends on it!

Description: one way of jumpstarting you link campaign is to get directory links. Building links, by listing your website in the search engines and directories, is one way of increasing your link popularity, especially if yours is a new site or one with no inbound links. However, you should choose your directories and search engines well.

You can jumpstart your link campaign by getting directory links. Building links, by listing your website in the search engines and directories, is one way of increasing your link popularity, especially if yours is a new site or one with no inbound links. However, you should choose your directories and search engines well. But, the shortage of inbound links puts your site at a severe disadvantage because link analysis is an important part of every search engine's ranking algorithm.

So, you can overcome this disadvantage by getting a few quality links. And a good way to start is to get listed in as many directories as you can. There are many directories out there, and the more you can get into, the better. If you have a business related website, and it cant be accepted by non-for-profit directories, then you should try submitting it into business directories and should be prepared to pay a small fee for it. A good strategy is to contact a site that doesnt offer advertising or paid listing and offer a small amount of money in return for a link. Chances are that few will be willing to accept your link. A few that you should try and get your site listed in, are Open Directory (http://www.dmoz.org), Yahoo(http://www.yahoo.com), LookSmart (http://www.looksmart.com), Zeal (http://www.dmoz.org), Joeant (http://www.joeant.com) and Business.com (http://www.business.com), Discount-Search.com (http://www.discount-search.com) or any other business directory if you site doesnt qualify for free submission.

And these directories and search engines are gold mines as linking partners, waiting and begging to be mined by an enterprising and prospecting webmaster. The most obvious Internet directory to start with, when beginning a comprehensive link search, is the well-known DMOZ directory. Its complete category and sub-category classification system makes it convenient for any website owner to find numerous sites within their area of business.

With DMOZ, theres no need to contact them for link exchanges if youre concerned about loss of visitor traffic to their sites. However, if youre not listed in the DMOZ directory, you can still find the category where your site would probably be included. And the process remains the same for finding link partners, whether your site is listed or not.

Another directory that is good is The Yahoo! Directory which has many of the same sites in its list as DMOZ. This is inevitable. There are, however, many sites listed in Yahoo! that are not part of the Open Directory Project. And this fact opens up many more possibilities for the webmaster.

When you go to the Yahoo! Directory, you must first go to your category, if youre already listed. But if youre site is not listed, you should select the most probable one. However, keep in mind that the listings are in alphabetical order, and may not have the same descriptions as the DMOZ directory. Then, use the same procedure as before, and your list of potential linking partners will grow larger.

A third important Internet directory is the Google Directory. They use listings supplied by the Open Directory Project and the listings are very similar to those found in DMOZ. But, Google is different in that it orders the results from the highest PageRank listing to the lowest, making your sorting that much easier. Though, it should be remembered that some of the PageRanks on display are most probably out of date, and may not reflect the site's current PageRank.

But, if exchanges, for higher PageRank purposes are important to your site, then the Google directory is the answer to what youre seeking. However, as a general rule, don't let PageRank determine your linking partners. Its far more important to make your site helpful, for your visitors and customers.

And, since directories are an excellent source of theme related link partners for any website, you should use a major one for the search such as DMOZ, the Yahoo! Directory, or the Google Directory. So, finding potential linking partners is very easy when you use the major directories or search engines.

If you love to write, then you're one step further to using article marketing to benefit you and your business. Pick a topic you need to learn more about or one that you are interested in. Do the required research, and make it into a resourceful article. Write articles that relate to your business. Also, concentrate on topics that you know people will be searching for. Use specific keywords in your articles so the search engines will find them...thus, resulting in finding your business.

The following steps will guide you through the article marketing process...

1. Find ideas for your articles. This can be accomplished in a number of ways.

* Participate in business message forums
* Participate in chat rooms
* Join discussion groups
* Blog
* Subscribe to ezines

Ask questions, read, and learn. The result will lead you to some innovative article ideas.

You can also get ideas from actually reading other articles. You should never copy content from another person's article...but rather, come up with an unusual twist or angle and make it your own.

2. When you have a topic for an article, give it a title and start writing it. If you are not an expert on the subject, you will need to do some research. Keep in mind WHY you are writing the article. You should be writing articles that are geared toward getting traffic to your website or business. Make them interesting and resourceful...making the reader WANT to visit your site.

3. Once you have written your article and have checked it for errors, you will need to start submitting it to various message forums and article directories. Try to choose directories with a high page rank. The ones with higher page ranks will have more importance with the search engines.

4. Always include your resource box at the end of your written article. This will include for example: your name and a link to your website or business. When people read your article you will have your link right there for them to click on and visit. Website owners are always searching for content for their websites. They often search in article directories. When they download your article, they also download your resource box. The more articles you write and submit to directories...the more links you will have directing people to your business.

Articles are one of the most effective marketing tools on the Internet today. Use it and benefit from it. Don't be afraid of it. Write about what you know, and keep writing, and success will follow.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

Article marketing is an ideal way to improve your website traffic without expending too much energy. All you need do is to write a few decent articles, and your traffic will increase significantly.

The writing must be relevant to the topic or niche of your website, or at least the page that you intend to direct traffic towards. That is one tremendous advantage that article marketing has over most other traffic building programs: you can direct the traffic to whatever page on your site you wish.

This is done by means of your authors resource box, that is an area set aside by most article directories for a few words about yourself and a link or two back to your website. That link need not be only to your home page, but can be to any page on your site that you choose. The page you choose, however, must be relevant to the article you have written. You dont send a reader to a page on octopi if you have just written an article about giant squid or turtles.

One mistake that many authors make is to fail to understand what is allowed in the resource box, sometimes called a bio. Some allow HTML and others dont. Some allow links and others dont. If you are not allowed a link to your site then there is little point in providing a directory with a free article. Dont use these sites, and there are several of those that I have come across. Some directories do not provide a resource box, but allow you to add a few words with your url at the end of the article.

It doesnt matter, as long as you are allowed to provide a link back to your website. You then get a one way link to your site, but even better in many cases, you also get traffic from people that like your writing and click on your link to visit your website for more information. Depending on the topic of your article, and how you submit it, that can be a massive short-term jump, or a steady stream over a longer period. The ideal is a combination of each, but that depends on your submission strategy and how many versions of your article you submit.

The versions matter, because if you can produce a few versions and submit different versions to different groups of directories, then you will get better results. That is because after a while, the search engines will begin to detect that a number of article directories, and other websites, have the same content (your article). They will then begin to drop some of these from their listings as being less relevant, and this will continue theoretically until there is only one directory or site with your article on it.

So make the best of it and submit it to as many article directories as possible for a quick burst of traffic, then write others to keep it going. Rather than write four versions of your article for four sets of different search engines, you are better writing four articles, each to be sent to all the search engines. That works better because I have tested it.

Article marketing can be used to increase your website traffic, but you can maximise that increase if you use the directories and your articles intelligently.

Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

Whatever niche area you are interested in, is usually the place to start, if you already have a good knowledge in an area that is your main hobby, you could be an expert in your field, and you most certainly should develop this further, especially if you want to have an informative website up and running.

You see when you already have a good range of knowledge in a chosen subject, it's best to reinforce this with more accurate and in depth content that you have researched thoroughly for the information you need.

Of course on the web you have an overwhelming resource at your finger tips, just do a google search for anything you want and there will be masses and masses of search results most times on all topics, for you to sift through.

Also you take into account that some jolly folk have the same interests as you and have set up their own forums and message boards as well as their own websites, like the internet you will find experts who travel from one forum to another with their guidance and expertise, it's these guys you want be like, helpful, knowledgeable and most certainly ahead of everyone else.

In forums you can ask questions to which they will get answered, and it's the kind of questions you ask that builds up your special niche information, for example if I was posting in an art forum, I'd ask if anyone knows any good art methods or techniques in a specific post area and someone should answer with a good answer, it's just about joining in a community and getting involved really, this is how you network and build up your sites niche content.

Experts of any niche area just cannot help themselves and will fall over their feet just to help anyone out as it could mean the chance of a few more tracebacks to their website for further info, or the possibility of a bookmark of their website, and they usually respond as fast as you can say help!

When you become an expert in your chosen niche subject area, you can do this too and there is an excellent reason for doing this, every time you post a helpful response to a request for help or even posting an article you always should include a signature line with a few short words about yourself and what you do and your website address (url), this is often called an author resource box at the very end of your post your readers have the option of visiting your site for further information.

Also when you provide good quality information that the reader is pleased with, that might filter out into the search engines and others may well see your quality information as a passer by searching for quality information themselves.

Libraries are another top research source for your targeted niche area, and also they are nice and quiet to do your written research, whilst some of the books maybe outdated, a library provides a good source of material, just be prepared to spend a few hours sat down with a writers headache at times.

Al ot of these research methods require a lot of reading and time spent(not enough time in the day, I know!) but it's well worth doing accurate research in the long run as your readers will come to appreciate the extensive information targeted towards them.

There used to be a time when there was really no such thing as the best SEO software. In early search engine days you simply would manually submit your site to each engine and that was pretty much it.

During the dot com boom days came along these "SEO Experts" that charged people an arm and a leg to "optimize" their sites in order to get listed high in the search results. This was largely attributed to our new monster friend Google who completely changed the way search engines work and how we work with them. The great thing about the changes that Google has put in place is they have really made efforts to level the playing field for the little guy to have as much of a chance as huge companies have to get listed high.

As time has gone by and many Internet experts started to break down and examine the search engine methods for ranking and listing sites some of the best SEO software tools started arriving on the market. This again allows the little guy an affordable option to expensive "SEO experts" and begin to perform search engine optimization themselves. Much of this revolves around keyword analysis and density checking to ensure we are in compliance with the rules of the major search engines.

Some of the newer versions of the best SEO software now on the market have added very slick tools that can analyze your potential competitors and how they are achieving their rankings. They have also added features to help enhance back linking efforts and really place the whole optimizing process on an auto pilot mode that will continually monitor your sites pages down to the individual page and report back on pretty much every aspect of your sites performance.

I believe the biggest advantage of these new software packages is the small online business owner now has tools available that only require a single purchase and can be used for as many websites as they want to develop.

The author has spent many years researching various ways of optimizing websites for high search engine rankings. He has created a site that takes a look at the best SEO software tools available. You can visit his site at the link below.
