My Deepest Article Marketing Secrets! - Part 5

I think a good author's resource box is short and sweet. An author's resource box that is written in the style of a classified ad and explains your credentials as well as the benefits of the offer works well.

What I've seen people do to increase their results from article marketing is also to break up a very long article into different parts, so there is part 1, part 2...but leaving them wanting more by having the remainder of your article on your website is a great tactic. I haven't used it myself before, but I know others are having success with it. It leaves things hanging and that always gets click-throughs.

A little enthusiasm in your resource box surely helps, and you do need to be enthusiastic about your products and be willing to put on the sales hat online to make sales, but too much of the hyperbole and people do get turned off. So probably a balance would work.

How To Outsource Article Writing

I personally use freelancers myself to write some of my articles; I'm looking for volume but I'm also looking for quality. So before I hire a writer, I'd always check out their samples first. And if they are good, I hire them to write articles for me.

I typically get a batch of 10-20 articles first before doing anything of a more bigger scale or giving my writers repeat projects. I like to make sure they are producing quality work.

If you're doing article marketing, be in it for the long-term. There's a lot of patience required to see some tremendous results from article marketing, but the wait will be well worth it, and you'll get some pretty nice long-term traffic.

Low Investment Internet Marketing

A common problem for new internet marketers is to learn the right way of advertising products and websites without going bankrupt running PPC campaigns. There are several ways in which you can make use of economical methods of advertising. You can run PPC campaigns at reasonable costs. There are also ways in which you can get some advertising done for free. Given below are some of the products and services that can help you conduct internet marketing without heavy investment. The basic thing that causes a high cost in PPC campaigns is the fact that they are poorly planned. A good marketing plan will automatically cost lower. New internet marketers often make the mistake of not planning their campaigns properly and hence they run into high costs.

The commonly use form of PPC campaign is keyword targeted ones. The outcome of such campaigns depends on keyword research. If you choose keywords without any research you may as well be throwing your money away. A keyword targeted campaign means every keyword you choose should give good returns. You should not choose generic keywords because they pop into your mind. Even a well planned campaign can end up in ruins if the keywords are not chosen properly. Generic keywords will not yield any respectable volume of traffic. You must remember that a single paying customer is more important than a thousand visitors to your website. The more tightly you target your customers the better results you will achieve.

Get rid of all the general terms that seem related to the keyword. They will get you traffic but not the traffic you want. Related terms and phrases do not convert enough to justify their use in PPC campaigns. You are paying for every click in PPC and using related or similar terms is simply a waste of money. Instead switch to very specific keywords and remove all surrounding fluff. For example suppose you are promoting an affiliate program and you have keywords like "make money today", "earn over the internet", and so on. These sound like they are specific but they are completely generic. You can find this if you do research on these keywords. Instead try being specific like, "make money with internet marketing". This way the person reading the ad already knows what needs to be done in order to make money. Only those people willing to do this will end up on your website.

If you are selling something then use precise keywords like "purchase product", "place order", "buy product". The only people who will click these are people who are ready to buy the product and place the order. This is the best form of traffic PPC campaigns can deliver. Site targeted ad campaigns are also available on Google. Though often overlooked they are a very profitable method of internet marketing.

The only free method of internet marketing is article marketing. Not only does this drive high quality traffic to your website/blog but it also helps increase your brand awareness and your own popularity.

Almost Criminal Article Marketing Secrets That Will Produce Astounding Results

There are many different ways that you can market a product. Article marketing is one of my favourite ways and in this article I am going to explain why.

One of the biggest hurdles to succeeding online is generating trust. Usually this will be about seventy percent of the reason that somebody will buy from you.

As the famous sales trainer Jeoffrey Gitomer once said people only buy from other people that they like, know and trust. So many people online make this very important mistake. They put up a sales page and think that people will immediately flock to them and buy. However, many of the successful internet marketers today spent years building their name and credibility up.

So your number one goal to be successful online is get people to think of you as an expert. This will dramatically boost your conversion rate.

Now this is what makes article marketing such a powerful method of site promotion. It allows you to build trust with people and people who like your articles will read them consistently. In normal marketing like ppc and classified adverts you do not get the opportunity to build this trust.

So with article marketing before the reader has even visited your sales page they will have a significant amount of trust. This ultimately means that your conversion could be ten times better than advertising in other sources.

Finally, by writing good quality articles and submitting them frequently to article directories you will build a loyal following many of who will automatically purchase products.

You just have to be patient and keep working hard. You can make your website popular using different methods.

1) AdWords - AdWords is the most popular paid method of advertising your website. Good thing about AdWords is, they want you to optimize your ad campaigns as much as possible. Some people think that if they spend more money on AdWords, Google will stick them at the top of their search results. That is not the case. If that were true, rich people will be on the top of Google search results. Google wants you to optimize your campaign so that you do not have to pay a lot for the keywords you are bidding on. If you follow Google TOS and guidelines correctly, you will find yourself succeeding at Google AdWord campaigns, spending less earning more.

2) Other PPC Programs - There are so many other big shot websites where you can buy a space and put your banner or text link ad. It is then seen by millions of their viewers, giving good exposure to your website. Make sure that you advertise on the same niche website that you own. That way, you will be getting targeted quality audience, bringing you a better return on investment.

3) Social Bookmarking - Who does not know about del.icio.us. The famous bookmarking site. And there are stumbleupon, furl, bluedot etc to name a few more

You can always throw in your website link for your friends to take a look at. One good thing about that is, since they are your friends, they can criticize your work too. You will get constructive feedback from your audience. So, it's a win-win situation. Try facebook, myspace, reddit, likedit and so many more. Just search for "social networking sites", and you will get the desired results. Do not spam your friends and strangers' inboxes with your links though.

5) Classifieds - Advertising through classifieds sites is very effective way of putting your website out there. Find some websites that let you post your ads for free. Try craigslist.com, khrido.com, usedottawa.com for their free services. Again, they monitor all the activities from their visitors. So, if you start spamming their websites, and try to distract their genuine visitors, you sure can get yourself blocked from these sites. So, be very careful when posting your ads in these sites.

6) Other methods - Other methods you can follow are forum marketing, eBay marketing, article Marketing etc. Again, make sure that you are not spamming these sites. Moderators are extra careful when these kinds of activities happen. They will not hesitate to block you once and for all from their advertising your effective websites.

Efficient Marketing Strategies with CRM

It is true that customer is king. If you want to make them feel that way, then you need to ensure that you have the right set of tools to make this possible. Implementing CRM software has become the core to the success of a business today.

Most CRM models today focus on marketing matrices. In CRM, the matrix is a sequential marketing plan that will help you to generate several new customers whilst focusing on retaining the old ones.

It lets you create annual strategies for your complete customer database by creating a matrix. The matrix only needs minimum adjustments each month.

Steps

In marketing matrices, the target segment is identified and plans are sketched out accordingly. Usually, it relates with creation of mailing lists, specifying the frequency of contact etc.

The target market is then approached with custom plans that suit them. Further classification of the target market according to demographics is also possible with a matrix.

Once a potential customer is turned into a customer, then the matrix automatically removes them from the list.

There is a separate set of strategies for existing customers who will be targeted with newer offers and plans. The proper design of the matrix is crucial for the success of the matrices.

Questions

There are several questions that you need to ask yourself before you plan, design and execute a matrix.

When you have the answers to these questions, the planning and implementation will become a lot easier.

 • What are the segments that I am looking to target?

 • What kind of products and services am I looking to market here?

 • What is my unique selling point that places me at an advantage over my competitors?

 • What is the frequency with which I wish to contact my potential customers?

 • Have I defined the separate set of strategies for customers who are at the fag end of the customer life cycle?

Exclusive Article Marketing Secrets - Learn How To Create A Killer Bio That Gets Results

Article marketing is a very lucrative way that you can earn a living online without spending any money advertising. However, it is time intensive to write the articles. If you have not yet succeeded with other methods of advertising then try this and you will have a much better chance of making it online.

In this article I would like to go over some techniques that will help you to get the most out of the bio that you create. This is one of the most overlooked aspects of article marketing that many marketers fail to maximize their results in the bio.

The very first step is to create a squeeze page and include the link for your squeeze page in the bio. The primary goal of the traffic you get to your web site is to capture email addresses so that you can market over and over again to your targeted prospects.

It is very important that you include your 30 second elevator pitch in your bio. This is the sales pitch that you need to give or your unique selling proposition. Your reader of your article will make up their mind in a few seconds whether they will visit your web site. So it is very important to make a good impression.

Also it is very important not to put your link too far away from the start of the paragraph. People read from left to right. So if you bury your link then there will be less chance that they will actually click on it.

Finally, if you offer a free ebook for download more people will take you up on your offer as this is seen as more valuable than a free report.

Finding Quality Link Partners

Every webmaster knows the importance of incoming links to a site to boost traffic and search engine rankings. But how do you find good quality sites that will link to you?

I recently came across an article that explains how to search for quality link partners on Google. According to the article this technique has become old hat to many search engine optimization experts but its new to me. Maybe I have not been doing my homework.

Simply use one of the following search techniques replacing the "keyword Phrase" with the keyword you want to associate your site with. The key word phrase is the key because you want sites that are of the same subject matter as your own to link to you. Try using the key phrase that you want your site to be found by when someone does a search. Also be sure to use that same key phrase in all your link titles.

 • 1. intitle:add+url "keyword phrase"
 • 2. intitle:submit+site "keyword phrase
 • 3. intitle:submit+url "keyword phrase"
 • 4. intitle:add+site "keyword phrase"
 • 5. intitle:add+your+site "keyword phrase"
 • 6. intitle:directory "keyword phrase"
 • 7. intitle:list "keyword phrase"
 • 8. intitle:sites "keyword phrase"

I used the above examples and came up with 100s of potential link partners all who have good page ranks with Google. You want to make sure that the pages your links will appear on have a Google PR or your link will not be found when the Google spider comes crawling.

Use Google's Advanced Search Operators to Assist SEO

Ever wonder how search engine optimizers find certain information online about your Web site, like how many other Web sites link to yours, how many Web pages you have indexed, or what date search engines last visited your site? Here are some of the latest SEO tools they use to determine the level and degree of work involved in an SEO campaign.

Using these advanced search operators modify the search results in some way, or even tell Google to do a totally different type of search on your Web site. Keep in mind too that some of these operators can be used in other search engines as well, like MSN and Yahoo! Note that there are no spaces between the search operator and the Web page URL.

1. site: Using the site: in the search box followed by www.yourwebsiteaddress.com determines how many Web pages within the entire Web site are currently being recognized by Google. This function also limits results to one particular domain. This helps SEO experts know which Web pages are already being seen (and which ones arent yet), so we can optimize those first.

2. cache: Using the cache: in the search box followed by www.yourwebsiteaddress.com shows the last time the search engine crawled a particular Web page. You may enter your homepage address or an inside Web page to find out the most recently spidered version of a Web page stored in a search engines cache.

3. info: The search query info: presents a collection of data that a search engine has about that Web page, like its latest cache date, Web pages similar to your site, Web pages that link to your site, Web pages within your site and Web pages containing the your domain name.

4: link: This search query results in finding all Web sites that are currently linking to your site. This helps determine how much link building services are needed in an SEO program for a client. Link popularity is still considered a major factor to achieving high keyword rankings in search engines. It also helps knowing what sites are linking to yours, so you can then determine whether or not you want them linking to your site.

5. related: This search shows Web pages that are similar to a specific URL. For example, related:www.santaclaus.com will list all web pages that are similar to the Santa Claus homepage.

6. allinurl: or inurl: These searches display all Web pages where the search terms queried appear in the URL. For example, allinurl: circus world will return only Web sites that have the words circus and world somewhere in the URL. The advanced search operator inurl: is used only when a single search term queried is necessary

7. allintext: This search results in showing Web pages where all search terms listed appear in the body content (visible text) portion of a Web page. In SEO campaigns, using this advanced search operator helps in discovering other related sites for possible link exchanges or link submissions.

8. allinanchor: or inanchor: These queries display all Web pages where the search terms listed appear in the URL. For example, allinanchor: circus world will return only Web sites that have the search terms circus and world appear in the text of links pointing to a Web page. The advanced search operator inanchor: is used only when a single search term listed is necessary

9. allintitle: or intitle: These advanced search operators display all search terms listed appear in the title of Web pages. For example, allintitle: circus world will return only Web sites that have the keywords circus and world in the titles of Web pages. The search operator intitle: only shows Web pages where a single word appears in the title of Web pages.

10. define: Although SEO experts may not use this advanced search operator often, sometimes it comes in handy just to quickly learn what a particular word or phrase means, instead of going to other online dictionary Web sites.

Receive the Highest Potential by Tracking Your Articles

The basics of writing an article include doing research and composing an article on a single topic of about 500 words. The topic should be something that's of interest to your target market. At the end of an article is the resource box, which contains your bio details as well as the specifics of the product or service that pertains to the article.

Once you've completed the task of writing the article, the next step is to make it known. Typically, this will occur through the submission of the articles to directories. Article directories close the gap between the writer and the publisher. Once the publisher decides to include your article on their website or in their newsletter, it will take place on the condition that the resource box is included. Therefore, the writer gains publicity and the publisher gains worthwhile content.

The remaining aspect of article marketing is the tracking. Tracking is necessary for determining which directory your website traffic comes from. For example, if you are submitting your articles to a number of directories, you will be interested in knowing which one produces the most valuable results. This will save you time when it comes to knowing which article directories to use. You'll also be able to conclude the steps you need to take in order to achieve higher search engine rankings.

Just as web hits and keyword ranking are valuable stats to have, the number of pages indexed and the amount of back links each article gained is also important. However, tracking these items is going to take up a lot of time. Don't lose sight of what's most important in the equation: writing articles.

Controversial Article Marketing Secrets That Will Clobber Your Competition

I am sure that if you are reading that headline then it may have caught your attention. In fact what I am about to say may offend a lot of people, but this is the brutal truth.

Article marketing is a long term strategy. You will not get results overnight. Many people attempt this expecting to get rich the following month. It is very important to understand that to build a successful long term internet business that this takes time. Using articles to build your brand name up so that you can sell more products is a time intensive strategy. However, once people start seeing your name they will start thinking of you as an expert in that specific market. When the time comes to buy a product they will think of you first.

If you are thinking of getting rich overnight with article marketing I seriously suggest that you look for another method of promotion. There will be a point in your business you may be doing everything right, but not achieving any success. This is the normal process. First start driving traffic to your squeeze pages and then you need to make sure that your sales funnel converts visitors into paid customers.

Basically, article marketing is a numbers game. The more articles that you have out there the higher the number of subscribers and volume of sales. You need at least hundreds and even thousands of articles to be successful. If you were thinking that you only need to write 20 articles and then you are going to be rich I am very sorry to disappoint you.

Finally, you can generate a lot of quality targeted traffic to your website. However, it will take a lot of work on your side as this is no magic bullet.

SEO Link Engine

Think of your inbound and outbound links as a search engine. If every site with related content in your category placed a link to your site on their pages and you did the same, a visitor to your site you feasibly use your site to find what they want instead of returning to the main search engine.

QUALITY not QUANTITY is the mantra of successful link building. PageRank comes second in terms of which site you want to place a link to your site on their pages. The search engine is concerned with RELEVANCE. If the site that has a link pointing to your site is completely unrelated in content, the PageRank is irrelevant.

If search engines did not exist, how would some find your site? Word of mouth may lead them to one site and if your content is related and their is a link pointing to your site, that is targeted traffic; these are the visitors that are seriously interested in what you have to offer on your site.

In search engine optimization, networking in this manner not only raises your search engine ranking, but the trust level of consumers and clients. The links on your site create your the market image of your business in your consumers mind in relationship to your place in the industry you belong to.

Take two groups of websites; Group A link to all of the sites in Group B, but none of the sites in Group B link to each other. The search engines will assume that all of the sites in Group B have related content by virtue of all of the sites in Group A linking to them.

How to SEO Your Wordpress Blog

Wordpress is one of the most seo friendly publishing systems today, but to get the best results you still need to tinker with it a little bit!

So let's see what steps you need to take to modify Wordpress so it will turn into a true seo CMS:

1. Permalinks structure: the default structure is no good at all - although search engines have no problem in indexing pages that have urls with variables, it's very clear that they prefer clean urls.

The best results I have seen are when permalinks structure is set to "%postname%", and only that. This is something to keep in mind for any site you build, Wordpress or any other CMS.

2. Related posts plugin ( tinyurl.com/262ao4 ): this is good for both your visitors and the search engines. It automatically finds related posts and displays them in a list - very useful when visitors arrive on a page looking for something and they get more info on the same subject.

3. Metatags plugin ( tinyurl.com/2fxota ): you simply can't let the search engines handle the text your visitors see in the search engine result pages. You can influence your click-through rate very much just by handling this one aspect of your copy.

As for the search engine optimization aspect - the description metatag can move you up a spot or two when you are in the first 5 with small to medium competition. And it only takes a minute!

4. Sitemap Generator Plugin ( tinyurl.com/2zy4nx ): for a small site this wouldn't be a problem, but when your page count goes over 50 indexing and maintaining a sitemap the old fashioned way just isn't viable.

This plugin is actually more valuable because it creates both an XML sitemap (like those used by Google) and a normal, HTML sitemap for your visitors.

Some of its features include: support for multi-level categories and pages, category/page exclusion, permalink support, what order to list items in and many other options.

5. List of ping sites ( tinyurl.com/2ljwrb ): put this great list in the Options -> Writing -> Update Services box and every time you write a new post 56 sites will link to you. This is a great way to ensure a quick indexing of every post on your site and, given enough time, get quite a few backlinks with the text anchor you choose.

Some optimizers say that blog and ping doesn't work anymore, but I do this everyday - it takes next to no time and the benefits are visible.

6. Technorati ( technorati.com ) is another easy way to make your Wordpress blog known, especially to other bloggers. Still, its biggest benefit is categorizing and indexing your content.

Create an account, claim your blog and then fill in the details in the blog settings page: write up a good description and then in the "tags" section fill in the keywords that represent your blog. Try to fill all the boxes but don't spam. If you grabbed the list from no. 5 you'll have all your posts listed in Technorati, and you're going to see the benefits really soon.

Apply these tips and soon you'll be on your way to more traffic and better ranking!

Article Marketing - How You Can Massively Increase the Effectiveness of Your Articles

Article Marketing is something that thousands of people do to drive traffic to their websites. It's no secret that a well written article can be thought provoking enough for readers to want to know more about either you or your services. So, what do they do? They click on your link in your resource box. But are you making effective use of understanding the conversion rates for the clicks that you get?

From my own perspective, my main interests are in motivation, wealth creation and self defense. These are the subjects that I write about most often. However, I am departing from that here because I have discovered something that I think will be of benefit to all article writers.

I don't write about things like "the best sexual positions" or "cell phone number spying" or "how to increase your penis size" or "how to shave your pubic hair" or "how to tell if your spouse is cheating on you" or any other such subjects that get tens of thousands of hits. Why? Quite simply I don't have a website on any of those things that could take advantage of the traffic it would bring.

Now here is something that you will probably find interesting...

I have over 250 articles all over the web in hundreds of "far-flung" places and in many different languages. This number of articles will show significant trends when viewed in terms of statistical anaysis.

I know which articles are "ball-bursters" and which are complete flops. So, what does that tell me? Write more articles (in my domains of knowledge and interest) that are popular - obviously! What is the point of writing articles that nobody else wants to read? Now here comes the interesting bit...

By analyzing the results of these articles I am able to see which ones are giving me the most click-throughs to my websites. Time for a little mathematics...

If I have 1,395 click-throughs from 170,424 views of my articles then my conversion rate is 0.82%. That tells me that for every thousand people who read my articles only 8 will be interested enough to go to one of my websites. Pretty horrendous huh? Then again, there are millions of articles on the web and people's time is at a premium. A reader has to be REALLY interested to make that click.

So, if I have some articles - which I do - that are returning the following statistics, what does that tell me?

 • 8 from 23 ( conversion rate 34.8%)
 • 400 from 2,667 (15%)
 • 28 from 154 (18%)
 • 191 from 1736 (11%)
 • 23 from 81 (28%)
That tells me that these particular articles SMASH my average. Hmm. So, what else does that tell me? Here is what I think...

 1. - The headline REALLY worked because it attracted attention
 2. - The article summary/teaser REALLY worked because it made people curious
 3. - The copy (article body) REALLY worked because it contained good information
 4. - The resource box REALLY worked because people wanted to know more.

So, now, what do you think I should do?

 1. - Write more headlines like that
 2. - Write more summaries/teasers like that
 3. - Write more articles like that
 4. - Write more resource boxes like that

The other thing - which I have not yet analysed in depth - is that the keywords REALLY worked. I need to look at that more.

So what is my point is this?

Watch what your statistics are telling you. Once you get the "formula" correct then all it requires is for you to stick with it and you will see a LOT more click-throughs to your websites than you thought was possible. I may have more to say on this later. Stay tuned...

This has been a "Public Service Announcement" from me to you purely for your benefit because I don't have an Article Marketing website. But if you want to know how to make a lot more money and increase your personal wealth then click HERE

Breakthrough Article Marketing - 4 Authentic Methods to Energize Your Article Marketing

Article marketing is the most used product and website promotional tool these days. As a result millions of articles are being posted to publishing sites on a daily basis. That makes it a bit tougher for marketers to give their articles the exposure they need. Thus, they resort to energizing their strategies to get ahead of the pack and take the lead.

Here are the 4 authentic methods to energize your article marketing:

1. Titles. One of the first steps to grab the attention of online users is to give your articles captivating titles. Something that can effectively pull online users to open and read your content. What makes a title captivating? It must be able to communicate the readers' benefits; it must be short, direct to the point, intriguing, and keyword-rich.

2. Write more. Another no nonsense way to excel in this field is to multiply the number of your articles. As you know, the number of your inbound links largely depends on your submission. So, strive to be more productive or hire ghostwriters to boost the number of your articles.

3. Optimize. You would want your articles to fare well on relevant searches to increase their chances of being read, correct? Then, you better know how to make them search-engine friendly. Identify the keywords that are usually being used by your target market when researching for information that you offer. Use these keywords all throughout your content to attract search engine traffic.

4. Publishers. You also need to keep the rules set by publishers when writing your articles. This is to minimize or eliminate the chances of your articles being rejected. Make your articles content-rich, informative, useful, and highly targeted to the needs of your target market. Also, strike out sales pitches or inappropriate content.

Every top Internet marketer has a list, it's a fact. They teach all day long that you need a list to earn a real income from the Internet. The only problem is that almost nobody teach you how to do it the right way.

When I first started my online business career two years ago, I had the chance to find a coach who showed me the ropes right from the beginning.

I quickly learned that one of the secrets to online success was the famous autoresponder. If you are on a budget, you can test drive the most popular automatic responder services on the Internet: aweber and getresponse for free for a full month.

How it works?

1. Build your landing page

You need to be able to build a simple landing page (or you can outsource). and upload it to your web server. Once you finished, just add a headline, some bullet points that clearly shows to your readers what he is going to learn.

2. Add an opt-in form

Now, you need to capture your visitors' names and email addresses. A big percentage of the surfers who land on your web page will leave, but it's not a problem. Just let them go. You only need people who are really interested in what you have to offer.

3. Get traffic to your landing page

Be sure to get targeted traffic. Don't make the mistake to buy millions of hits and other crazy schemes because all this program don't work.

You need to get real traffic, from pay per click or search engines. You can also try coregisteration services and test the results.

And a very effective traffic generation is article marketing. If you are not submitting articles for traffic and sales yet, you want to be sure to get this done as soon as possible because it its the best way to build your list.

Amplify Your Article Marketing Efforts By Helping The Reader

Article marketing is a really great way to build an online business. If you have tried other methods like ppc or ezine advertising and still have not experienced any success I seriously suggest that you consider article marketing.

Let us first take a look at why this is such a great method of advertising your business. I think that the primary reason is that today with the increase in spam and advertising messages people are not as receptive to blatant advertising as before. Many years ago to be a top marketer all you needed to do was advertise your website using ppc. Today the ppc search engines are so competitive and it really is a lot more difficult to make a profit.

As the famous sales trainer Jeoffrey Gitomer once said people buy from people that they like, know and trust. With article marketing people are most likely to have read several of your articles before they click through to your website. This means that by the time that they click through to your site they already like, know and trust you. Consequently they are ready to buy from you. With other forms of marketing you need to do the hard work first.

Now the best way to maximize these results is to write articles where you help the reader. Share a slice of your expertise without giving the farm away. The more useful information that you give your reader the more likely that they will subscribe to your newsletter and become a paid customer. I find that 250 to 350 word articles work the best. This is so that they are short enough and do not get lost before they have an opportunity to click on my resource box.

Finally, make sure that you have your unique selling proposition in your resource box. This will be your 30 second elevator pitch that will make the reader want to click through to your website.

Improved Search Engine Placement - Good Link Building Is Essential

If you are going to get improved search engine placement it will be vitally important that you increase the number of websites that link to your website. Doing this helps you steadily increase traffic. The increased traffic gives you the opportunity to generate more sales.

However, if you are to succeed, you must make certain that your website is good enough for someone to link to you.

So, how do you do that?

Remember that "Content is king". See to the quality of your content to make your website attractive to all...

You may be wondering how your content is related to our current topic of building good backlinks, but there is a perfectly reasonable and clear connection...

It is important that you have high quality content on your website. Otherwise, other webmasters will most likely be reluctant to trade links. Your website will also need to be informative and interesting, as this will increase the chance of getting a link from someone else.

Remember, links to your website are the building blocks to your SEO success. It will be worth the effort to acquire them for improved search engine placement.

Let's review a short checklist of website characteristics that would make them good candidates for good backlink building:

* Websites with quality, related content.

* Websites that have higher PageRank than you currently have.

* Websites that relate to your keywords in some way.

* Online directories like Yahoo and other business directories.

* Web 2.0 websites like Squidoo.com and Hubpages.com.

Google, Yahoo and other search engines will give you improved search engine placement in the SERPs for having many inbound links. You should really concentrate on building quality links, which will do a lot more for you than tinkering with Alt tags or any other onsite optimization.

The main problem is that building link popularity is not always easy to do. It tends to be a lot like work, sometimes boring and tedious work. Also, it generally takes a huge chunk of your time. Two good reasons why many people try to avoid doing it.

There is a great deal of research involved. There is "legwork", checking out what your competition is doing, analyzing their backlinks and figuring out how to duplicate them, then do better than they do. There is setting up link pages, maintaining them, eliminating dead links, etc., etc.

Good software tools can drastically reduce the time required. However, if you want the benefit, if you want to get improved search engine placement, you will need to do the work necessary. It will be worth the effort.

Search Engine Optimization Checklist

To be an expert in search engine optimization (aka SEO) is more than simply a skill - it requires constant monitoring of the requirements of the individual search engines and this is an ongoing task better left to those dedicated to this.

But as a website owner / builder there are certain aspects of SEO that you can ensure you are following and our checklist will help you get good search engine rankings so necessary if your website is to be found by surfers.

1. Monitor your Stats

If you use cPanel, there is a Stats link on the main page. Check that the search engines are able to index all your pages. Click on the Error Log icon in your Control Panel to see what pages are causing problems and correct the problems. Your stats will also show you what search terms visitors are using to find your site and these keywords are the clue to what words you need to use.

If you have a Google Account, activate Analytics. It provides really good statistical data.

2. Navigation for the Search Engines

Your site must have a robots.txt file, a sitemap.html file and a sitemap.xml file. These files are all supported by major search engines and ensure that the search engine bots / crawlers index your site content completely while avoiding those directories and files that you do not want them to index.

In addition, in your links on your pages, make use of the tag: rel="no follow" which most search engines honor.

3. Open a Google Account

The reports you get in your Google Account are invaluable and better still they are free. These reports also allow you to monitor how long it is taking Googlebot to access your pages, so you know if your page content is too large or if there are server speed problems. You page should load in under 15 seconds. If the search engine crawlers are unable to call your pages up quickly there is a good chance users are experiencing the same slow load times and it is an established fact that most surfers move on if they have to wait longer than 15 seconds.

4. See What The Search Engine Sees

The search engine does not see your website as it appears to you on the screen; it is important that your site is targeting its keywords correctly.

One of the best ways to determine just what your site looks like to a search engine crawler is to go to this search engine simulator URL and enter the full name of your main page: http://totheweb.com/tools/spider-test/index.php

This tool will also give you keyword density details.

5. Use HTML for all your navigation links, not javascript nor images

One of the most common mistakes in website design is to use images for site navigation - your site navigation is basically valueless for search engine crawlers and they will not be able to follow the links to the pages.

6. All Images Must Have an ALT Tag

Include a descriptive ALT text using your keywords as not only is this important for accessibility for vision-impaired users but search engines cannot 'see' images and hence have no idea what they are; the ALT tag will explain the image to them.

7. Use Flash sparingly, if at all

Search engines cannot index text or content within a Flash file. So whilst Flash can do a lot for your website presentation, from the SEO point of view it should be used very sparingly (we would recommend not at all) and certainly only on non-crucial content pages.

8. Each page must have its own, unique < title> tag.

The TITLE tag should not be your website name ... it should be the main keyword describing the content of that page. For example, if the page is about selling blue widgets, then that is exactly what should be in the Title tag.

Whilst Google does not place a lot of emphasis on the meta tags it does use the TITLE tag, so these tags need to be carefully structured.

9. Each page must have its own, unique tag < meta name="description" content="xxxx">

Google does not place a lot of emphasis on the meta description tag but all other search engines do.

10. Each page msut have its own, unique tag < meta name="keywords" content="xxx, yyy, zzz">

Google does not place a lot of emphasis on the meta keyword tag but all other search engines do.

11. Your page content should follow a structure similar to this:

Assuming your main keyword is "blue widgets" and your secondary keywords are "blue metal widgets", "blue plastic widgets and "blue fiberglass widgets"

Include at least one instance of your keyword in the < H1> tag

Your keyword needs to be the first words the search engine sees and it should o be in the 1st paragraph twice (once bold, once in italics), then again in the last paragraph. Your secondary keywords (and main keyword) need to be sprinkled through the content, so that in the end you have a keyword density of approximately 5%. Check your density here: http://www.adnerdz.com/tools/analyzer

12. Don't use frames

Search engine crawlers / bots will have trouble getting to your content and indexing individual pages of a frames-based layout; it is better to avoid frames if at all possible.

There are many more aspects to SEO which we will deal with in additional articles, but the points above give you a good starting point.

Keyword Research and Product Lines

As you have probably heard over and over, keyword research is a pivotal step for success. Taken a step further, it can develop your product lines for you.

Keyword Research and Product Lines

Finding success in e-commerce can really be boiled down to one theme. Identify the needs of your prospects and provide a solution for them. It is that simple. You should write out that statement, print it out and hang it over your monitor. If you stray from this theme, you will have problems making money.

Keyword research is the key to identifying the needs of your prospects. When doing the research, you should identify the phrases they are using to search for solutions to their needs. Most people understand this concept, but fail to take the process to the next step.

More than a few people have said they do not want to pursue rankings under a set of keywords because they do not carry such products or provide such services. If you have ever said the same thing, you are blowing it.

Remember, we are identifying the needs of prospects. If we do not have products or services oriented to an easily identified need we identify through keyword research, what should we do? We should get products or figure out a way to supply the service!

Assume we have a site selling hiking and backpacking gear. We have backpacks, guide books, tents and so on. When doing our keyword research, we find out our prospects are also looking for writing journals in which they can record their hikes. Since we dont carry hiking journals, we want to avoid those keywords, correct? NO! We want to find a line of writing journals for hiking and add them to our catalogue of products. We value our prospects and that means providing them with solutions to all of their needs. By doing so, they will return to out site again and again when they need new hiking gear.

One of the more difficult things for online businesses to pick up is the fact that you should never design your site based on your view of your business. Your prospects should design it. By this, I mean that you should look to keyword research to identify all the product lines and/or services you are going to offer.

Find out what your prospects are search for and ignore everything else. Follow this guideline and your site will evolve into a revenue producer.

Using SEO Software To Dominate A Keyword Phrase

Search engine optimization is, as many of us know, a great way of optimizing a web site to rank in the organic search engine results for certain key words. For instance, you aim your website internet marketing efforts at, for instance, the phrase search engine optimization resources.

This can be quite a laborious task without access to search engine optimization software. However, many people only use such software to optimize their own sites and fail to exploit it to find keywords and to study and understand the competition.

A key ingredient in ranking well for certain key words involves back linking. The more sites that link to your page picture which to optimize, preferably with your main keyword to which you aim to optimize being in the "anchor text", the more significant your page will seem to the search engines. Your ranking will therefore improve.

A keyway, however, of studying your competition with a view to beating them is to analyze their back linking strategies. For instance, in the recent software release called 'SEO Equalizer', and there are various functions called 'Promote your Site' and 'Maintain Your Site'.

These functions however can be used to in fact analyze other sites. In the software package, instead of entering your own website URL, analyze the ones of your competitors and superiors.

Finding your competition sites is very straightforward. Once you have identified through keyword research the keyword which you wish to dominate, you enter that term into Google and literally copy and paste the organic search result URLs from the first page one by one into the analyze feature of your SEO Software.

Within a few moments, you will get a list of all of the websites that backlink to that page. All the major packages also will tell you the Google PR of those sites. This information is extremely helpful. It is staggering how often, particularly in even a very competitive niche such as the internet marketing environment, the sites that appear in the first page of the organic Google search results have hardly any quality back links or are hardly optimized for the relevant keywords in the niche.

They will usually have 10 or so links that most of these will be to sites with a Google PR of zero. It is clear that hardly anyone is utilizing a sensible search engine optimization methods.

The major packages, including the new release SEO Equalizer, also have an ability to analyze keywords utilized in a relevant page. This information can be used in two ways. First, you can analyze your direct competitors to see whether their pages are optimized for the key word phrase to which you are aiming. Secondly, you can go to a website like Clickbank and find the best sites advertising products in your niche.

You then one of that site through the key word analysis of feature on your SEO program and find which sites are optimized for what keywords. If you feel that site is being run by someone who knows what they are doing, (an authority site) the chances are they have optimized their sight for the best keywords. And they have it, immediate quick keyword research. Copy and use.

Of course, you can then run those authority sites through the back link Analysis feature and find the source of their back links. Once you have a list of back linking partners for the authority sites and a list of the back linking partners for your competitor sites, you can begin to approach and compile your own list a back links with a view to dominating those keywords.
